Having been late to the party and just binge-watched every series of Seinfeld, I read your article with great appreciation and recognition. You nailed it and analysed the personalities and the comedy 'invasion of the bodysnatchers' perfectly. Absolutely brilliant. Loved Kramer the most.
Thanks Bettina. George was my favourite, with Kramer a very close second. The two best episodes for me are Kramer ones though-the one where he’s mistaken for disabled and the one where he gradually acquires all the look of a pimp. 😂
George was a brilliant character - his stinginess coupled with his sense of self importance always meant that he 'blew it' when he was on the verge of success with a job or relationship. My son was incredulous every episode that he had yet another in a succession of extremely attractive girlfriends, despite his obvious shortcomings! It became parody in the end. The Soup Nazi was one of my favourite episodes - I also loved the two Kramer ones you mention and the one where he installs the ridiculously powerful shower that knocks him out 😂
A great take on the show and his lack of real life character when challenged.
I loved the show. He was the perfect straight man. Richards was perfection in his role. Alexander was good also, Julia was funny but too whiney for me...
The show needed each to make it work. We shouldn't forget that Larry David behind the scenes had a lot to do with the success.
As to comic/mechanics... I'd put Jay Leno at the top of that heap.
I’m REALLY glad that I named my dog Kramer and not Jerry! :-)
Much better choice. 😀
A deft examination.
Thanks Carl. 😀

I think you are absolutely right and it is so sad.
It is. He had nothing he needed to prove and every protection there could be in terms of wealth and status but still couldn’t act with courage.
Stockholm Syndrome.
